MT RUAPEHU Mount Ruapehu is a semi-active volcano located in Tongariro National Park in the middle of New Zealand’s North Island.
This huge mountain has New Zealand’s largest and most developed ski areas; Whakapapa on the northwest slopes and Turoa on the southwest slopes, combining to provide nearly 2,600 acres of terrain on the same lift pass. Both mountains offer excellent services and facilities. By road, drive time between the two resorts is around 60 minutes. |

WHERE IS MOUNT RUAPEHU?
Mount Ruapehu is located in the middle of the North Island, 4 hours from Auckland and Wellington or just 2 hours from Rotorua.
GETTING THERE & GETTING AROUND
GETTING THERE: International flights operate frequently from Australia to Auckland and Wellington plus NEW for 2010, Air New Zealand are operating direct flights into Rotorua from Sydney.
GETTING AROUND: The most convenient way to travel the region is by car.

ACCOMMODATION
Whakapapa Village is the closest accommodation to Whakapapa slopes and is 6kms from the resort base facilities.
Ohakune provides the accommodation for Turoa ski area and is located 17kms from the mountain. Ohakune is the main ski accommodation centre and has most of the nightlife.
