Heliskiing is said to be the “ultimate” snow experience for a skier or boarder and New Zealand has some of the best terrain and the most experienced guides on offer. Imagine thousands of metres of untracked, unspoiled riding and skiing - set against the panorama of NZ's highest peaks!
To heliski you just need to be of strong intermediate ability or better and have a sense of adventure. Each of the companies listed below have options to suit the first time heliskiier through to the max vert addict. Operations are weather dependent and it is recommended that you book your heliski day for earlier in your stay so that it can be moved to the following days if weather dictates. Any of our Wanaka, Queenstown, Mount Hutt or Multi Area Holidays can easily have heliskiing included.

Usually available 01 July to 30 September. Wanaka is New Zealand’s main heliski region and has over 2,000 square kms of heliski terrain. Queenstown has its own local terrain, but you will mostly travel to Wanaka – this isn’t a problem for single days, but if you intend to heliski for more than one day we recommend basing yourself in Wanaka. |
Usually available 01 July to 30 September. Mt Cook is located in the very heart of the Southern Alps, a region with 27 peaks over 3,000m (10,000ft) high. The Tasman Glacier offers intermediate runs of up to 10 kms, and Wilderness Heliskiing offers 5 run days in the high mountains adjacent to Mt Cook itself. Wilderness Heliskiing and Ski the Tasman operate subject to weather conditions and can not be guaranteed. To increase your chances we recommend a 3 day, 2 night stay. |
